One of the major port on the west coast of India, it is the first special economic zone established in India. Kandla port is India's hub for exporting grains and importing oil. It is the highest earning port of India. Major imports include petroleum, chemical, iron and steel machinery while exports include salt, textiles and grains. Cargo handling capacity is 24000 metric tonnes per day of dry cargo. 19% of the country's total import/export is handled by Kandla port.
